N scale blinking bridge
«

I purchased the N scale blinking bridge. It blinks...but the train ends up doing stop and go, stop and go, matching the blinking. I gave the DC circuit a bit more juice, the train still goes slow and fast, slow and fast...matching the blinking.
Is that normal? I am suprised that the bridge takes the electricity from the DC circuit instead of the AC. Anyway of fixing this problem?

Dear Conradin,
I was under the impression that the bridge operates on AC.
How is yours wired?
Have fun!

No wiring required...just connect the bridge to the tracks.

That sounds weird. The blinking lite would be drawing current from the track? I'd want to turn off the blinking FAST!

Bach man, did you ever find out whether the bridge is AC or DC?

Dear Conradin,
Mr. Reilly is out of the office, but I hope to speak with him tomorrow.

Dear Conradin,
The bridge should indeed work directly from the track DC.
Have fun!

Dear Conradin,
I will request a sample and see what I can figure out. In the meantime, where and when did you get yours? Is it new or old production?
Have fun!

I got it from a discounter, so there was no box, just the plastic bags and the instructions. I suspect it is an older model, because the trestle seemed to be meant for the older (non-EZ track) tracks.
The instructions gives the item as:
Item no.56-1221 "N" Blinking Bridge and Trestle Set. Printed in Hong Kong
Nevertheless, it still makes no sense that the blinking causes the train to stop and go.

I haven't gotten the sample yet, but it will be new production, and likely not helpful with your problem with an older one. Never-the-less, I'll check it out.
Have fun!

Well, if the new production works, then I'll buy one
