I have 2 houses with grain of wheat lighting attached. Are they 12v or some other voltage.

They are probably rated in the 12-18 volt range.

I would go with the lower voltage (12 volts)first and see what it does. Maybe you can find a 9 volt transformer to use, I got a couple of 9 volt transformers from TV amplifiers that were being trashed because of being out of date with new technology.
Also at a lower voltage your light bulbs last longer as well.
