I have a DDA40x  and the rear motor is not working it just drags the rear wheels what can I do to fix it

Hello,
Remove the shell and check to see if the motor is actually turning the drive shaft. If not then you have to find out if it is getting power.If it is the motor is bad if not spinning.If it is turning with power then a common problem is the coupling from the drive shaft to the worm gear,,,cracks and spins without turning the gears. Bachmann sells this part.

Ive taken the top off and its not turning under power ive checked the motor leads and there ok so i think i needs a motor

Did you check the motor leads at the motor contacts  with a volt meter wile powering up the loco ,or just do a visual to see if they were just hooked up?? Very Important step if not done properly could lead to replacing the wrong parts.
