Title: BAC 44925 decoder in H16-44?
Post by: klunker on August 30, 2010, 08:37:25 AM
Can the new small Bachmann decoder BAC 44925 be used in the Bachmann H16-44? Also does this decoder have BEMF or not? I run a lot of consists and I hear BEMF is not consist friendly.

Bachmann decoders do not have bemf, but most would consider that a good feature to have.

ABC

Thanks for the reply. I've heard several people complain of jerky performance in consists with BEMF. The solution often suggested is to turn the BEMF off.  I don't know if my Bachmann EZ command will let me do that.

Do you know if the BAC 44925 will work in the H16-44 N scale loco? Size is not a problem- any other reason I can't use it?

The decoder should work fine. The reason why your E-Z Command won't let you turn bemf off is because it does not have the ability to program advanced CVs.

klunker, I suggest looking at page 6 of this list of topics in N gauge.  There is a discussion about installing a TCS Z2 decoder in this loco.  It is a hardwire type installation.  Good luck.
