My Tweetsie engine doesn't smoke, how do I fix it?

Alex-

There is a switch inside the smokebox door.  Or, if the loco isn't new, the smoker could be burned out.  Sometimes people leave them on after the fluid is all gone and they self-destruct.  But assuming the loco is okay, turn the smoker on behind the smokebox door and put a few drops of smoke fluid into the stack.  Well, put the smoke fluid in first rather than last.  It may take a few moments before you get any smoke, even if the smoker is okay or if you are at low speed.

However, I strongly urge you to consider ignoring the smoker.  They don't produce very realistic smoke in the first place and they can make quite a mess in the second place.  The smoke fluid will end up coating the top of your engine and all over the rails as well.  This will attract dust and other undesirable gremlins.  Also, any fluid left in the smoker will run out all over everything if you take the loco off the track and store it in any position other than upright.  You'd be amazed how big of a mess a few drops of oil can make!!  (Don't ask me how I know this.)

Sorry to be an old poop but it's better you should be able to make an informed decision about smoke rather than winding up with some unexpected problems.

I had the smoke in the "ON" position and it didn't smoke, so I turned off the smoke and ran it. Also, I have wobbly rear wheels on my 4-6-0 (BAC90057). How do I fix that? (The Tweetsie's wheels are fine, but is it a 2010 production run-because the wheels don't have much blackening on the wheels as the 2009 models)

Alex, do not forget Bachmann's lifetime warranty.  If there is a defect or multiple defects, you can get it back to Bachmann and they will repair the problems.  All they charge is a $ 30.00 bench fee.

I brought them my 12+ year old Pennsylvania engine, and they replaced the entire chassis assembly with all wheels, gears and motor, replaced my smoke unit and replaced the headlight.  The charge, $ 30.00.

THE KEY IS THAT TO HONOR THE WARRANTY, YOU MUST NOT DISASSEMBLE THE PIECE OR HAVE TAKEN IT APART IN ANY WAY.
