Title: Thomas Fan series
Post by: Calebtrain on January 16, 2012, 07:37:48 PM
I know of many YouTubers out there with excellent Thomas fan-made episodes and such. I know many times a video will be posted in the "Everything Thomas Thread," but I thought they deserved their own thread to be showcased and enjoyed by everyone. :D  To get this thread moving, Here is a quick video of Edward I made. l  C'mon guys! I know you make epic videos!  ;)

Here is my near-perfect rendition of the Runaway Theme used in Percy Runs Away. I'd post videos of my series if I had any models.

I know I'm double posting, but here is an episode I made. Took me two days to edit and film. I also am hoping ThomasFan247 will post his episode, "The Trouble with The Twins" here. (When it comes out of course.)  ;D anyways, here's the episode.

Don't worry, it will be ;) I had to find a new narrator as Matt has too much on his plate to handle at the moment, otherwise the episode would have been released 3 weeks ago :P But no biggy, everything is fine, and the episode will hopefully be released by this coming Saturday :)

Can't wait! Your videos are always great and look as if I'm watching the real series again. I do have a few questions for you. 1. Do you plan on expanding your layout?
                                              2. Do you think I should completley delete my series and restart it? If you compare my first episode to the most recent one, (the one in the link) then you will see what I mean. It started out as a comedy series, then it sort of went into a HiT style writing, and now it is slowly dissolving back to the Railway series. I think you were much smarter to start yours later. I still think mine is very low quality and I am considering starting a new series called: Sodor and its Railways. I wouldn't start it until my new layout is finished. I am thinking about stopping the episodes for awhile and just kind of.....doing things like Layout updates, and reviews. I know this is a long post and I'm sorry you have to read it, but what is your opinion?   :-\

Well, this isn't exactly a series, but it's a good tackle at it. A redub of A Bad Day for Sir Handel! Tell me what you guys think.

Thanks! :) As much as I'd love to expand, I don't have the room to, but I'm hoping to build a few small sets, and a friend of mine has a decent layout that I'm sure I can use if needed :) And honestly, I don't think so. I really enjoy watching your videos! I made the mistake of deleting all my original episodes from YouTube, and when my old computer crashed I lost all of them, so I can't even go back and watch them to compare  :-\ If you really wanted to start over, I'd suggest keeping all your videos on YouTube and then upload all your newer ones as you go. Then you can compare and watch your progress :)

Alright. That makes sense. I haven't seen your other episodes, I wasn't on YouTube then.  :P  But I have seen your " Jolly Rancher Nightmare 2009 Halloween special" (Hilarious! :D) and compared it to your "Trouble with the Twins Preview" and I just think that you have come along way and that I will keep my old videos and compare them from time to time. Thanks for the advice. :) So I suppose if you get Knapford it will be incorporated into a set?
Title: Re: Thomas Fan series

No problem. I'm always here if ya need me :) Yes, if I do end up getting Knapford, it will be incorporated into a set. So far I've built one set and ended up using all of my foam board, so I'm not sure when I will be making another one :P It's my version of the works, and it was specially built for filming episode two, which hasn't been started yet as I still haven't released The Trouble with the Twins, but it should be up today if all goes well! :)

Both of those series are Top notch! Each has a special feature to it that makes it unique! I'm sure it takes alot of effort to make these series. I have one in the works, but all that I have of it so far are episode descriptions on my YT channel. Here's a link.

http://www.youtube.com/user/calebtrain (http://www.youtube.com/user/calebtrain)

Just scroll down a bit and you'll find the episode descriptions. They sound kind of silly, but they will turn out to be like the RWS. I tried to make them realistic.  What do you think? ThomasFan247 actually has a chunk of the script for the first episode.  :)

Working on my own at the moment, although I'm building the stock I need to film it. Whilst it's less of a series and more of a book adaption, it won't be the only one.

I'll post more on it when I have something to show.

Sounds good! I, too, have started some work on a Thomas and Friends fan fiction of my own. It's currently in the form of a short story, and I hope to use it as a script for an episode once it's finished. First, however, I need to construct some buildings and trees for my layout, and then film my "Toby" music video for a boy scout merit badge.

Here's what I have for my short story so far. I hope you enjoy it!

Excitement was brewing on the Island of Sodor. A brand new rock crusher had been constructed, and was scheduled to open very soon. Each of the engines wanted to be the first one to work at the rock crusher, but Sir Topham Hatt hadn’t yet announced who it would be.
A few days before the rock crusher’s opening, the engines met by the station for their weekly meeting with Sir Topham Hatt.
“Late again?!” chuffed Gordon. “I swear, if Sir Topham Hatt doesn’t bother to show up on time to these meetings, then I really don’t see the point in having them!”
“Oh, would you relax?” said Toby. “It’s only been ten seconds after the hour.”
“And yet every time we pull a train,” said Henry, “we’re expected to be right on time, down to the millisecond. It’s unfair, I tell you!”
“Okay, first off,” said Edward, “no one on this island has ever expected us to be that precise, and second off...”
“Pah!!!” cut in James. “No one may expect you or that worn-out tea kettle to be right on time, but they can always depend on me. I’m the most reliable engine on the railway, getting my trains to their destinations with time to spare.”
“Yeah, right!” said Toby. “If you’re so reliable, then how come you were so late in delivering the milk yesterday?”
“Uh... that wasn’t me, it was Henry!”
“No it wasn’t!” yelled Henry. “I was in the workshop all day yesterday getting a repaint!”
“Which is why I was forced to take your freight train!” Gordon huffed. “If I have to pull even one more coal car...!”
“Oh, for goodness sake, Gordon, freight cars aren’t that bad!” said Edward. “I’ve been pulling them for years, and I’m perfectly fine!”
   “Well, that’s debatable...” snickered James.
   “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“I think you know what it means.”
   “Why I ought to...!”
Meanwhile, while the argument between the five engines raged on, Thomas and Percy were having their own conversation regarding the rock crusher.
“So Thomas,” Percy said, “do you think Sir Topham Hatt will tell us who’ll be working at the rock crusher?”
“Well, I suppose he will,” answered Thomas. “If he doesn’t announce it today then there won’t be any time left to prepare for the job. He’s cutting it awfully close, if you ask me.”
“Hey, do you think he’ll assign me to work at the rock crusher?”
“Uh... even after the three accidents you had last week? ...Sure, I don’t see any reason why he wouldn’t give you the job!”
   “Oh, goody! “
Just then, Sir Topham Hatt’s car pulled up to the station. When he got out, Thomas and Percy saw that he was eating an egg and bacon sandwich.
“*Burp* Uh, sorry I’m late,” Sir Topham Hatt said as he finished the last bite. “The line at the restaurant was rather long this morning. Oh, I say, what’s going on over there?” He gestured towards the five other engines, who were all still engaged in their heated dispute.
“Oh, that,” said Thomas, “I think it has something to do with... coal cars... milliseconds?”
“And tea kettles! Don’t forget the tea kettles!”
“Uh, yeah. Thanks Percy. Anyways, something along those lines.”
“Well, I certainly can’t have my engines wasting their time with such nonsense! If you’ll excuse me...” Sir Topham Hatt walked over to the raving engines, pulled an air horn out from his jacket, and blew it loud and clear. All the engines went into a dead silence.
Then Toby spoke up. “Um... Sir? Why are you carrying an air horn with you?”
“That’s a personal matter I’d rather not discuss. Now, shall we begin our meeting?”
“...Yes,” said Edward. “That would probably be a good idea...”

Thanks for the offer, but I'm looking forward to filming it myself. I even plan on performing the voices of all the characters! It'll probably be many, many months before I start on a video project, though (not counting the "Toby" music video).

I (under the name Lhatt63) am working on a fan series myself, over on the Sodor Island Forums, called "The Old Iron Quarry Stories". Just using elements from Season 5 of T&F and forgotten-about characters to make a series.. first 'episode' is in progress now, and will be posted to the thread in the next few days.

Hey 247, just say your first episode, and here, have a list of why it was so awesome:

1. Excellent editing
2. Great story
3. A legitimate reason for introducing a new character (I know he's not technically new, but he's never been used before, so that's good enough reason to call him new.)
4. TARDISRESCUE!!!!!!

In short:

Great job man!

I'm currently writing a Thomas fan series of my own, titled "Thomas the Bachmann Engine" it's been in production for quite some time now  :-\ hopefully it will air on YouTube sometime this year, the series is likely to not have a narrator, :P the engines will tell the story. I've recently gotten permission from CaptainPunjab to make a re-dub of his episode " The Trouble with James" which will be finished soon. I'm thinking of doing an adaptation of the TUGS episode "Munitions" for the series.
Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Bleh, felt like this decussion needed a dust off.

Greetings, im Supermariokyle100 from YouTube.

I've been modeling for 2 years now, and i really have been getting better at this.

Anyways, since so many awesome people are in this thread, i would like to talk about my upcoming series in HO scale.

Its called Railway Adventures On Sodor. The title was given to me by Thompsonline, aka Farmerboy986. This series will be a comedy type of series, and at some points it will get serious and railroad styling, like Thomasfan247. I just want to say i will inform those who want to know about the series. If you want to know how this is gonna be planned out, let me know. Thanks. :)

Sounds interesting, will look out for updates. :)

I'm writing up a new spin-off series alongside Railway Stories from Sodor, with help from my partner and Skarloeyfan, it's going to be based on a TV show that aired in 1995 on a preserved railway that was facing closure.

The 'pilot' episode is in the writing stage at current, and more news will be revealed via my blog and Facebook page!

I'm planning on doing a model series in future called "Thomas the HO Engine". It will be filmed with my new HD Camera and it will be edited with Sony Vegas 7.

Like Dan, I want to cast the characters and people who will voice on my series the same way he is, but in a list of certain type of characters and voice actors.

Rail Characters:

Tamotsu the Nissan GTR
Adler the Audi R8 4.2
Arrigo the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
Jock the Ford Mustang GT
Kane the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

Vajelie Henderson(OC of Mine)

Voice cast so far:

Starbugproductions
Rustyfanatic05
Borisfangirl

If you would like to be in my series, just send me a message because I think Dan would want that.

List of Episodes:

1. Rail or Road
2. A New Friend for Bertie
3. The Shuffle Gang
4. Adler the Audi R8
5. Old but Faithful
6. The Trouble with Kikyou
7. Great Western
8. Tamotsu, Adler and Arrigo
9. A Date Gone Wrong
10. Mayumi and the Ford Mustang GT
11. Italian Food of Happiness
12. Gordon and Tornado

And if any of you Thomas Fans have watched Missoliverandblossom's T&F Series, then you should know that my model series will be like his own, but with characters from the Anime "Shuffle!" starring in this model series.

As for the release date, I can only say that it might be around 2013 as for how long it will take to clean out my basement and to expand my layout.

But please remember that I'm not just gonna expand my layout for my model series, I'm doing it so that I can play around it, take photos photos of my layout and edit then out of boredom.

When my layout is finished and I get some more trains (as in all of the Bachmann Thomas engines), I plan to start a series of my own (and after I launch a YouTube account). :) It's going to be called "The Thomas Show", and I have quite a few episodes planned out. Also, my series will be similar to MOAB's T&F in the sense that I use non-Thomas engines without faces as characters.

Episodes that are planned for Season 1 are:

Thomas and the Photograph
The Troublesome Diesels
Gordon's "Accidental" Express
Little Lady
James and Buzz
Train vs. Bus
Old Fashioned
The Presents Train

Like I said, I'll be making the series (and be making a YouTube channel) after I finish the layout and get some more trains

I'm not sure if I want you to be in my series, because I'm looking for the most talented vocie actors on the Internet (Such as Missoliverandblossom and FlameAmigo619).

Sorry  :(

Well if you're looking for actual voice actors I would normally suggest asking for Resumes but as it is a Thomas fan series that may not be practical.

Acting is what I do for a living and have for some time, I have done films, many stage shows, including one off broadway show, web work and even voice over work on a professional level. I was professionally trained in voice acting and because of that can do all kinds of accents and different voices very easily which really helps my career. It's always good to be able to do a bit of everything. I'm glad you brought something up that relates to acting because I love talking about it and don't often get to on here.

What will help you is this, there is quite a lot to be gained from the auditioning process for prospective actors in your series. Haven't told any of you on here this yet but I am going to school for acting at Stella Adler Acting conservatory. I'm very excited because that's the school Robert De Niro and Marlon Brando attended and they are a very exclusive program only 14 people are accepted a year out of thousands.

So I would suggest you audition each person for the character they want. This will ensure you get the voice you want in each actor and character. This always makes for the best series.

If you have any questions please ask. I would love to help in any way I can. :)

Thanks for the feedback. I do like making my own faces, even if they aren't perfect. They do get remade, so they'll be better in the future. :)

Another thing i suggest is not to use many hard cuts use fade or others.

Have been wondering, what is the best way to do face masking for a model series?

Sony Vegas, but it takes years of practise to go to the extreme like masking movements and every frame.

Here's an update on my upcoming model series, and anyone is free to do their own audition for the character they want to voice.

Hey guys,

I probably don't belong here for the special I made, but I think it's worth a look for some of you guys.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRhx2Slf_h0&feature=share

It's my first special "Thomas & the Tiger" and I started on it last may and I finished it a few days ago, my very first special. Just comment on my channel and feel free to comment on anything about this video.

Thanks,

Wittman Studios

Thanks, it was a little hard to make considering it was my first special. I'm pleased with the result, actually, I haven't had any bad comments about the video, I'm quite surprised. I'm pleased the Thomas community enjoys it, it seems I've hit the bullseye after all. Thank you for your feed back
