I am new to this board, and I look forward to learning more about HO scale models. Can someone tell me when the updated Bachmann American Freedom Train GS-4 locomotive will be out? I have the SP version, and I am looking for the Freedom Train version. Thanks........Paul

Oh no - I thought we left the AFT back in the seventies with Jimmy Carter and CB radios.
I saw the real train in person - I thought the paint job was uninspired.
Keep the GS-4 in SP colors - you can't improve on the paint job.

The 4449 was in the Freedom Train colors again from 2002 to 2004 because of the September 11th attacks. I wish bachmann produced an auxiliary tender in the Daylight colors.
I am a huge fan of the SP GS-4 locomotive. I agree it is hard to beat the SP Daylight paint scheme, but I'll take a GS-4 in just about any paint scheme. :)
I wish bachmann could make some freedom train cars.

Bach-Man i think your a little late on announcing this one. We got some in the other day.

Review: SWEET. Runs very smooth at a low speed(5 SMPH i think was the lowest maintained speed i could get), although the paint seems a little glossy.

Dear BaltOhioRRfan - As I remember the real AFT had shiny red, white and blue paint. They wanted it to stand out because of the bicentennial celebration. It sure did!
I don't know if the 2002-2004 paint scheme was done with glossy paint. Didn't see it on its second go round.
Does that mean the 2-8-4s are in the station, too?

Don't think so. we haven't gotten them yet(as of Thursday, i'm off until tuesday) They probly wont be out till early November.
FYI. I now have both Freedom Train steamers of the 76 Train. AFT#1(PCM) and AFT#4449(Bachmann). I may double head them or put them back to back on display tracks then on major holidays or patriotic holidays run them.
Anyone know where I can find one of the new updated Bachmann American Freedom Train GS-4s? I have not even seen one on ebay yet. Thanks. :)

Thanks, I tried the link you gave, but they say they are not in stock, overdue from Bachmann. Walthers shows they don't have them yet either. :-[
