Title: Return Of The Round Roof Caboose?
Post by: Mister Lee on March 14, 2016, 07:57:33 AM
Is there any chance that Bachmann will do another run of their round roof (no cupola) caboose any time soon? They may not be pretty, they may not attract the sorts of folks who buy their On30 to compliment their Department 56 buildings, but I like them and I wish that Bachmann would find it profitable to do at least another small run of them.

I too would like to see this, they are wonderfully generic and are similar to vehicles that ran, not only in the US, but also in many other parts of the world.

The curved roof cabooses can be easily converted into "shorty" passenger coaches.  I modified three of these cabooses into a baggage car, passenger coach and an open air excursion car.  I simply replaced the doors and rebuilt the sides, keeping the end platforms and original roofs.  A couple of them behind a Porter or 4-4-0 make an eye-catching consist.

I wish Bachmann would place a 4 wheel suspension under it and that would make a NEAT caboose.
