Title: Berkshire 2-8-4 Locomotive
Post by: T-Buck on December 29, 2016, 10:40:01 AM
I'm trying to figure out how to grease the helical gear on my Williams locomotive but cannot see how to access it. Not sure if it's by design or if I'm just not seeing it.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks.

JP, of Acton MA, USA writes:
Usually, the motor of the loco is housed under the shell, so removal of the shell is necessary.
Once the shell is off, there should be some sort of motor mount, held in place by screws, that secure the motor to the frame.
Removal of the motor mount screws should make it possible to remove the motor, in order to grease the helical gear (known as a 'worm' gear)
Hope this helps. Perhaps some pics of your loco, might be helpful, as well.
