Title: DC only Spectrum K4 4-6-2 shell removal
Post by: butcherman on January 02, 2017, 11:14:45 AM
How do you remove the shell on this locomotive? I have had this steam engine since the 90's but only lately tried to run it. Was going to disassemble and oil but all I have is the exploded diagram that came with it and can not figure out how to take the shell off.

Been a while, but from what I can recall..............

Remove front and rear trucks. The trailing truck may have pick-up leads on it....be careful. If it does, it's best to leave that one in place.

Remove 1 screw from inside the stack.

Remove 2 screws from under the rear of the cab.

Gently wiggle loose while watching for detail parts that may need some coaxing and tend to hang up.

Good luck.

Keep this page handy. Many Bachmann locos on it. Complete instructions.

FYI. There is also a page for putting sound into the tender for newer K4 version.
