Title: Bachmann 4-6-0 Adding Sound
Post by: majordadsage on May 21, 2017, 11:33:22 PM
I am going to install a Digitrax SDXN 136PS in my 4-6-0.....I have removed the tender shell and have identified the wires coming to the board....my plan to remove the board completely and wire in the new decoder......is there a good reason to leave the board in the tender?  If the new decoder is a stand alone sound decoder why would I need the board?

No need to leave any of the old board . It can all go , there won't be room for the new sound decoder otherwise . I would suggest the newest Tsunami 2 decoder though over the SDXN decoder though .

Be careful. Bachmann has a habit of ignoring NMRA wire colors. The back half of that board snaps off, to allow room.

Just mark each wire with the number on the board and look those up on the instructions to see what they do.
