Title: Lubrication of Spec Fairbanks Morse
Post by: jerryl on December 03, 2007, 12:11:08 PM
I have a Spec. Fairbanks Morse H16-44 Diesel that is long over due for a gear lube. What is the best way to get to them without almost disassembling the whole loco.   Thanks.  Jerry

Unfortunately, you cannot do a proper lubrication of this locomotive without taking it apart.  The worm gear, worm bearings and motor bearings cannot be accessed any other way.  The link below includes instructions on how to take this locomotive apart and reassemble it.
