I got a DC layout with steel on black roadbed track and would like to start running DCC. My question is can I keep using my steel track?
Yes you can, Bachmann's steel and nickle-silver track use the same connectors.
However, steel requires more maintenance than nickle-silver because the oxide buildup (rust) does not conduct electricity.
Nickle-silver track oxidizes too, but the buildup still conducts electricity, just not as well as clean rails.
