I just bought the 2-4-4-2 with sound card. Installed the card but...no sound. Uninstalled card reset to factory defaults, even though I hadn't changed them, got the 16 flashing head lights but still no sound. Checked on JMRI and all CVs seem to be correct (& f8). Done all this several times. Soundtraxx suggest trying another speaker but before I take the tender apart I have an idea. Can I swap the sound card in the Bachmann Whitcomb to check if I have a fault on the card or with the speaker? They look the same but I don't want to do any damage.
Any help appreciated.
The only difference between those add on sound cards is the firmware content.
So it is highly probable that the pin outs are the same.

Thanks for the information. I swapped them and the Whitcomb card works in the 2-4-4-2. I guess the steam card is a dud.
