Title: HO Custom Smoke Unit
Post by: JoMc67 on November 25, 2017, 01:27:11 PM
Hello,

I have a Bachmann HO 2-6-0 w/Sound (new Bachmann engines that came out in past year), but looking for a way to add a Smoke Unit...This way I can have Sound & Smoke when train goes around track.

Now, I have no interest in trying to figure out how to Custom/Fab one up...However, I'm looking for a possible forum member to do it for me. I would send train to your location, and you would perform the Custom work for a predetermined fee.

If this interests anyone, then PM or post me the details. (I prefer to send the Train out around January 2018..after the Holidays).

Thanks, Joe

Aftermarket smoke units can be purchased, and there are any number of commercial tech types who will do the installation for you.  However, number of readers here believe that smoke from models is not only unrealistic but also puts an oily film over everything.

Sounds Good, and will look into it.

The only HO 'smokers' I've seen that look half way realistic are the old American Flyer locos with the piston smoke units that "chuff" as they puff. Of course the "chuff" isn't synchronized the way you can with a decoder, but on the other hand you get the sound without the electronics. Still makes a mess on the track though.
