Title: Need help with getting Engine to work
Post by: jonnycamp on December 10, 2017, 11:52:09 AM
Trying to set up an HO set. Have a Bachman EZ track. Have a new smoke engine from last year. We have a 30 year old Tech II rail power 1400. Only one engine is working on the track (an old one - 30 years old), the others aren't. I'm wondering if the transformer/power needs to be replaced (it has worked before). Any advice on how to trouble shoot and what the issues might be?

You can connect a multimeter to the power supply to make sure it's putting out the correct voltage.

Does your non-working loco have any swiveling wheels that may have become turned 180 degrees?

If the Tech-II is powering one loco okay, I would be looking at the other locos for the problem.

When was the last time the old engine ran?   Contact points oxidize and lubricants congeal , just like cars.
