Title: DCC locomotive sound
Post by: wilbart on December 27, 2017, 04:49:02 PM
I recently purchased the Model 501 GP40 and FT Diesel train set. The box states it has locomotive sound but I cannot find a function code that turns it on. Lights are F10 and work fine.
Can anybody tell me how to turn on he sound?

Model 501 appears to be some kind of circuit board.

This is from Hobbylinc's site:
"Manufacturer Comments
Other NMRA-conformant digital control systems will work to operate in digital command mode.
Locomotives in this set are not sound equipped. (I did the "bold" highlight.)
Easily expand your layout with more E-Z Track (bac44594)."

Thanks guys! Terry, this is the set I bought which does say the DDC will control the speed, direction and lighting of two decoder-equipped locomotives. It does not mention sound even though the box says it does control sound. Thanks again

The EZ-Command controller will control sound if the locos are equiped with it. The locos in your set are not.

The 'Echo Valley' (00825) and 'Thunder Chief' (00826) sets include sound equiped locos.

Wilbart - So now, you're all set for sound with the system to control it. Buying sound equipped locos will be the next step.
