Title: EZ Track Swithch
Post by: Zug on January 08, 2018, 11:40:44 AM
I have an EZ Track switch that a couple of days ago started shorting out my system when an engine runs over it. It's OK in the turning position, but shorts out in the straight position.  I need some ideas as to what is causing this. Nothing has changed on the layout.

Is the switch manual, remote or DCC?

Do you have a multimeter?

Thanks, Tom.
The switch is remote. Very strange that it just acted up after three years.

To Zug :  How much electrical skill do you have ?   You may have a loose and / or a broken wire in the base of the switch . You can test for this with a Multi-meter .  John2 .

I checked with my multimeter and find there is no power in the frog when the switch is in the straight position. There is power in the curved position. Unfortunately the switch is a crossover that is going to be a pain to take out.
