Looking for a wiring diagram and perhaps some insights from anyone who has done this mod.

Thank you

Have a look at the pictures.
The text is in Dutch and the locomotive is a 2-6-6-2.
But there is no difference between the 2-4-4-2 and it's big sister for the modifications.
I haven't put sound in it but you could modify the side tanks.

Thank you for the response, ton. A very nice cab.  I hope someone will share their experience modifying the wiring.

Jim, the wiring is simple.
Forget the connector pcb.
there are two wires coming from the LED.
two sets of wires from the wheels,  black (left track) and red(right track).
And two from the motor.

Decoder wires:
orange and grey for the motor.
White and blue for the front light.
Yellow and blue for the optional backlight.
red and black for the pickups.

Thank you, ton, and yes, I am thinking to hardwire a new control/sound recorder.  My mallet will arrive this week, and I will check the wiring.  I will hope to sell the tender with decoder.

Thank you for being so helpful.
