Title: Bachmann HHP8 versus new spectrum diesels
Post by: jwoj69 on April 04, 2009, 08:43:00 PM
i'm lucky enough to have HHP8 as well as new revised spectrum Dash 8-40C Dash 8-40CW and SD45. Detail on new spectrum diesels is as good or better than Kato. How about power?
HHP8 is super smooth and actually faster than Atlas and Kato models. Super fun, superior detail, smooth, very powerful and fast. How come the spectrum line is not using the same powerful motors? Can it be converted somehow?

I too really love the HHP-8 and to improve it performance.

Change out the factory decoder and install a better one.

Faster isn't always better.  Nearly all the hood units you see are geared for 60-65 mph top speed.  Your models already capable of WAY more than that.
The HHP-8 'mud missle' can run up to 125 mph, and again, your model is capable of more than that.

bachmann n scale locos better than atlas or kato,Ithink not.Idont know if you own any or have taken them apart, but they are superior to bachmann in every way. bachmann makes some good n scale diesels and steam, but they are not in the same league as atlas or kato, they are the no1 n scale train makers    hobo
