16  Discussion Boards / On30 / Re: How about adding a 2-6-0. an 8-18d 2-6-0 on: October 29, 2016, 11:07:33 AM

A 60ton 3truck would suit me fine, as their were at least 6 built for 2&1/2 Ft gauge (aka On30), could use one for my Copper mine.

Looking very good, as to a system for the roof, might it be possible to use a catch strip and magnets to hold them in place, so they could be removed for viewing of the interior?.

Looking good, I used Tap-In-Splice connectors for my wiring. Lot neater the solder and no nicks, burns or smoke to put up with. And you do not need to cover. I am currently rebuilding my layout and reusing them from the first layout, no problems in 4 years of use.

Would you believe a Deck Prisim, used to pass light to lower deck.

   Have one myself.

Precision Scale make 3 lengths of drawbars, for this purpose. I make up my own, quicker and cheaper to couple up cars in block of 3.

The Grandt line  C&S 4 wheel caboose, would likely be suitable.

Always interesting to hear from a South American modeller, regardless of scale or gauge.

I model in On2' 6" various Railways from Argentina. Brazil, Chile with other rolling stock from
Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Peru & Russia for good measure.
Just rebuilt a model of the Norquinnco River bridge from the Esquel line, now need to rebuild
 approach abutments.
Long term modelling includes 2 Misubishi Rio Turbio 2-10-2s and Baldwin-Whitcomb road & switcher units built for Braden Copper in Chile. A Esquel Henschel 2-8-2 is progressing a bit at a time.

Interesting how the water tanks on the engine are refilled, totally off the wall.

The Continental Modeller had a 10 page article in the Feb 2012 issue on an HO outdoor layout by Peter Esgate. He operated 100+ car freights and 20+ passenger car trains. The layout was in England. At the time it had been running for 8-9 years in the climate there.

As far as track, as I understand PECO track is the only UV resistant brand, not aware
ATLAS is?, might pay to test a section out of doors. Peter used all PECO for his layout.

Peter's layout was called "Watsatch Junction", may show up on google etc.

Back issue may be available from PECO publications in England.

Racing Vinnie the second North American entry,  appears to be a CNR 6400 class, done up in Royal Blue for the 1939 Royal Tour of Canada.

Some where I have a set of plans for a GA-8, will need to find them and take a few measurements from them  post.

With Bachmann following Baldwin prototypes perhaps the Baldwin-Whitcomb units built for the Braden Copper Co in Chile might be in order.  2 Foot 6Inch gauge, 60 Ton, end cabs, not sure if trucks A1A-A1A or C-C though.

CPR record's indicate the slogan "Spans the World" was used from 1946 until 1949.
So I would have to say CDS got it right, stepped Canadian Pacific Railway began in 1951.
