1  Discussion Boards / N / Re: Bachmann ever considered a buy back for locos on: August 16, 2018, 04:12:43 PM
Wondering if Bachmann has ever considered a buy back program for locos when newer versions are made.  For instance, the light 4-8-2, there are lots out there and since your releasing one with DCC and Sound you might get a lot of trade-ins.  Of course, the value given would be contingent on the condition of the trade-in.  It would increase the spare parts available for repairs.

I've had several Bachmann steam locos fail over the past 2 years.  Sometimes they could fix them, sometimes they couldn't.  The ones they couldn't were swapped for a small fee.  The Bachmann Warranty Program has been terrific in this way, even if we couldn't do a 1-for-1 sway, they worked with me on model and price to help me get something terrific.

I used to be a critic of Bachmann until I realized they have this limited lifetime warranty.

On the tender, the digits look too close together.

perhaps.  I'm trying to compare to this to see

Just did it in HO scale. If another run of N scale 2-8-0s happens maybe then...

is there a way that we, as a community, could incentivize "maybe" until it becomes a "yes, definitely"?  I believe the older Spectrum Consolidation #2506 in n-scale would serve as a great template for a 630 Smiley.  It was in the Bachmann Spectrum Steam Set, #24121, "Stationmaster Southern"

Glad to see it in regular service black.  Those engines were only passenger green for excursions.  And the green on the earlier model SR engines was too bright and neon toned.  The modern Baldwin 4-4-0 got the green right, I have two.

yes sir, that's exactly right.  The earlier 4-8-2 Lt Mountains were pretty good, too.  A little matte finish helped out the 722 tremendously.

Will the famous Southern 630 be made in N-Scale during this new run?

Please and thanks!

99% sure this won't happen.

Do these exist?  Can we respectfully request a run of this type?

I see here as being T. & P. RR No. 610 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_and_Pacific_610

TJ

That's correct, and the original.  Southern leased it from T&P for several years for their Steam Excursion Program.  It would be great to have both versions Smiley

...now where's my Southern 2716 and the new Texas type?!?!?😡

people like Victor (or Mark) at spookshow.net make it look simple for series such as Mikados and Berkshires 😁.  I think it could work, but I'm an engineer so I make stuff work for a living 😉

...also, wouldn't it be great if Bachmann made a 2-8-4 variant of the Southern 2716?

Does it bug anyone else that the train is derailed?

YES!  Definitely!

TJ-- You're absolutely right, it's T&P 610 that Southern leased for their excursions for several years.  I think it exists in its normal livery for N but, if not, I'd love to see BOTH

...and if you think about it, the Santa Fe chassis would work-- add an FEF trailing truck, design the T&P boiler, voila!

I think it's high time we get a Texas type in N-Scale.  The Consolidation has had 2 runs.  TWO!  I'm certain we would have enough interest to generate sales, especially if you include the Southern 610 (black and gold with red cab and white walled wheels) version of the T&P 610.  There are MANY Southern modelers that would jump at the chance to have their own 610, I know I would.

This is the HO version imported from Samhongsa:
