32  Discussion Boards / HO / Re: Number 4 switch versus regular switch on: May 13, 2017, 10:25:57 PM
Dear CWEX,
A "regular", or "snap switch", is basically a curved section of track laid over a straight section.
A numbered switch is more realistic. The divergent leg is straight as well, and the number
indicates the length of the divergence. Thus, a number four diverges one unit for each four
units of length. (Think rise and run on a roof).
The higher the number the longer the switch, or turnout.
Have fun!

Dear SJ,
I spoke with the service manager who told me that this is not a widespread issue.
Whenever you do have a problem the first course is to return it to the dealer.
If this doesn't work out, call us.
We will always stand behind our products.

Dear Plint,
The windows and roof of a Spectrum heavyweight are a one-piece casting.
Push up on the clips visible under the car and the roof/ window piece will lift out.

Dear Ivan,
I imagine the 0-6-0 will negotiate this tight radius, but I'm not sure.  Using the widest radius possible is always the best idea.

Dear All,
I know this will sound like a shameless plug (it is, after all, our site...), but our new EZ Track Cleaner really is the best I've
ever used.  I apply it with one of those Starbuck's coffee cup collars (I don't know what they're called) and it gives great results!
Have fun!

Dear All,
I am looking into this; in the meantime, if your streetcar develops this or any other problem, please call the service department.
