Hello Bachmann man,
I have been searching e-bay for months now for a Purdee & Curtin Lumber caboose to go with my shay engine. I found 1 caboose on e-bay lately but it is missing its roof, Can this be replaced as a part? I can buy a simular caboose with different road name fairly inexpensively if the roof is able to be removed and replaced without damaging it in the process. Appreciate any knowledge on this subject. Why are these road names so hard to find lately? Seems that I have found every road but Purdee & Curtin, go figure right!

Dan here is a more reasonable candidate for the roof from eBay...

One thing you should do is "Strapping" the motor.  Send me an email and I'll send you a copy of the instructions.  What it does is hold the motor in place so it doesn't chew up the gears.  Other wise a pretty good drive.

Barry - BBT
I know it's a long shot since this listing is so old, but will someone please post the instructions you mentioned for strapping the motor? Thank you.

Mine is attached with the two small screws to the main frame and two snap on braces to a round cross member on the main frame.  Smiley

Greg is correct. There is a great untapped market for Aristo replacement parts. Perhaps Bachmann can be persuaded to look at the market situation again?  Roll Eyes

You do not need the speaker enclosure. As Bill said, the tender itself is the enclosure!  Roll Eyes

Thanks for the kind words.

These are the batteries I used...

I used two of them in series.
I have 5 other NiMH powered locos and they can all use the same charger.
Secondly, NiMH batteries are less expensive than Li-ion batteries. They give me good run times and are not that big. I even was able to use some different sized NiMH batteries in a Bachmann Davenport. That was a real challenge to get enough batteries in it to power the Crest Rx. I did mange to get in two 4.8 v packs and four AA batteries all in series to get 13.6 volts.  Wink

The software says you can, but you can not "attach" photos. They must be on a server somewhere on the 'net, and you post the URL.  Cool
