Greg is correct. There is a great untapped market for Aristo replacement parts. Perhaps Bachmann can be persuaded to look at the market situation again?  Roll Eyes

You do not need the speaker enclosure. As Bill said, the tender itself is the enclosure!  Roll Eyes

Thanks for the kind words.

These are the batteries I used...http://www.all-battery.com/96v2000mahnimhhighcapacitybatterypackforrccarrobotssecurity.aspx

I used two of them in series.
I have 5 other NiMH powered locos and they can all use the same charger.
Secondly, NiMH batteries are less expensive than Li-ion batteries. They give me good run times and are not that big. I even was able to use some different sized NiMH batteries in a Bachmann Davenport. That was a real challenge to get enough batteries in it to power the Crest Rx. I did mange to get in two 4.8 v packs and four AA batteries all in series to get 13.6 volts.  Wink

The software says you can, but you can not "attach" photos. They must be on a server somewhere on the 'net, and you post the URL.  Cool

Make sure to clean the old track, as it probably oxidized over the years. Keep it clean (and clean the loco wheels) and you should be OK.  Wink

u3o8geo,

Just to be clear, "G" is the gauge of the track (45 mm), not the scale of the trains that run on that track. There are 5 or more scales that run on G gauge track.

Hello Dennis,
The sound system is part of the Crest Revolution receiver board. They make a generic steam board and a generic diesel board.

Your loco is an older model. The smoke unit is likely burned out (common) and the back light was never operational on these older models.  Undecided

Here is a short video of a battery/radio conversion I did on one of my 4-6-0s. It is my sixth conversion. I used a Crest Revolution receiver and NiMH batteries with everything in the tender.

This video definitely shows that the Crest Revolution receiver is Plug n Play in the Forney.  Grin

Open the smokebox door and check to see if the direction switch is in either Large scale or Normal. Center would be OFF.

Mobil 1 synthetic lubes for autos are plastic compatible and MUCH cheaper! Use 15W-40 oil for most jobs and wheel bearing grease for the gears.  Wink

Both the 2 truck and the 3 truck Shay will even be happy on 4 foot diameter curves!
