Beautiful locomotive Skipgear. It would be good to see one in N scale now that Fox Valley Models has the MIlwakee Road PassengerCars. Wow.

I want a return to those steel coaches Bachmann had out several years ago (late 90s or so). I'm a person of polar opposites. I run N and G trains and I enjoy running steam and modern passenger equipment. I'd love a true n scale subway train (I know I know, Kato's Japanese commuter trains look them, there are companies that have molds, etc), but a true NYC or MBTA subway would be great, as would a San Francisco Cable Car. I doubt though there's much market for those. Maybe to go along with the Amtrak equipment, an AEM 7, again, not sure on the market.

I wouldn't be so quick in casting off the the marketability of any "N" scale subway or rapid transit equipment. I have three 2 car sets of Hakote Tozan trains I plan to incorporate into a free lance transit/subway system. I would love to replace them with any US type rapid transit vehicles. Look at MTH and Lionel. Who would have thought they would have produced so many different types. Yes, there is a big market for US subway/lightrail cars in "N" scale if Kato, Tomix, Bachmann or some other manufacture would produce them in quanity. While there at it. How about London Underground equipment too! Glasgow? Paris...Name it.

N / New products are almost here.

Dear Bachmann,
With the NMRA convention nearly here. I was wondering if we will be seeing photo's of Bachmann's new products durring the time of the convention for those of us who are unable to be in Sacamento, Ca.?

I'm not going to hold my breath this year for a K-4 or other nice new Mid sized steam of any kind, but I'll keep my fingers crossed (Less chance of passing out.) I'm hoping someone does an B&O EA or E something too.

I am too Albert. I purchased the Kato P42 Intercity set and just purchased a couple addition coaches. I would like to have the HHP-8 for the NE corridor section for a simulation of the "Cardinal." Sadly the only Pass. train that serves Cincinnati, my hometown. I would think the new batch of HHP-8 would have the new couplers , But, you never know.

If you wish to convert a Rapido equipted model to Microtrains, here is a link to a posting I found on "How to".

Personally, I'd rather wait and buy one with the right couplers.

The $200 price is retail. I rarely pay full price. Check around on the internet. I've seen the HHP-8 for as low as $50.00.

My list could be endless....Besides the addition of sound and illuminated marker lights as I mentioned earier. (Marker lights on Steam Locomotives as well). I'd like to plead for a PRR K-4 too. (Once again.  ;))  Plus, Bachmann is producing a very nice Peter Witt trolley, but I'm I little surprised they haven't delveloped a MODERN light rail vehicle. It just seems odd to me. ???

Besides the locomotives mentioned above. I wouldn't mind seeing some of them with sound on board. Maybe lighted classification/marker lights!?

While, I would certainly prefer a K-4 pacific or Hudson. If a Decapod were produced. I'd try to make modify or make one look like an N&W M1 4-10-0.  :)

Whoops. Need to edit this one. I goofed... The M1's were 4-8-0's  Still, a 2-10-0 might look nice lettered for the N&W.

I've never tried Models11.com. They do have a nice web site though.
I've dealt with Hatton's in Liverpool for several years. They're very reliable. Shipping does take a while at times. My longest wait has been 4 weeks, shortest one week. Usually it's a customs hold up. Shipping ates are exceptionally good for overseas .You might give them a try if you can find what you're looking for at Models11.

N / Re: MRC power packs
May 06, 2011, 10:36:39 PM
There is an easy way.  Sacrifice the plugs. Strip the insulation off. Connect to the screw terminals of the MRC power pack. Buy another Bachmann terminal later if you'd like to use the original power pack.
If you're planning sidings. You'll probably need addition terminals if you plan to isolate them.

It's not as big a problem as you might think. You can purchase rail joiners with wire leads already soldered on. All you'll need to do is replace two joiners with the new ones and connect them to the + and - terminals of the MRC Power Pack and you're ready to go.

I'm looking forward to this Loco.
I heard it is Kline tooling from Bachmann's TCA presentation at York, Pa.

I know, I know, I'm getting my hopes up...

I don't intend to dash your dreams Eric, but I asked the Bachmann a somewhat similar question last year. Got the same basic response and a 4-6-0 announcement at the convention.... :'(....(a silent tear falls)....Maybe, just maybe the Bachmann has been hard at work on a "super wonderfulistic" K4 I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed.

This is only a guess on my part, but wheather a locomotive has DCC or not is only a coincidence. The problem in my opinion may be with the gauge of the wheels. They may be too narrow or too wide. You'll need a track gauge (Recommended) to know for sure. Hopefully the Bach-mann has a solution. Best of luck.

The Russian decapod would be nice for some folk, but it seems a little "specialized" to me. Personally, I've been crying for a good POPULAR Midsized Steam Locomotive like the K-4 J1e or J3a Hudson or equivalents. I'm sure the decapod would sell well, but I feel many would buy it out of desperation for something new and different.
Bring on the Pacific's Mikado's and Hudson's! Only the July NRMA convention will tell. I getting old a waiting and the Grim Repper is nearly in view for doing so.  :'(
