Bill,
You can try to pry the clips off from the front side of the truck by sliding a small screwdriver up from the bottom of the truck under the clip. I have broken a few clips this way and that is why I not push the clips out from the inside of the truck. You can purchase replacement clips from the parts department so it is worth a try.

Bill,
I sent you a private message with my email address. I wrote the SBS on the RR line site so I should be able to help you.

If you can get you hands on the replacement gears the fix is simple. Bachmann should have them.

Here is a link to the how to's for gear repairs I did.

Also look around the rest of this site there are many nice ON30 folks willing to help.

The Favorite Spot needs to buy another container load of them.

Not particularly nice or decent guys (read their bad feedback) but you can't argue with $0.01 and no reserve.

I think about 75% of my On30 stuff is from them, and I've not had a single issue. Highly recommended.

Scott

Ray at the favorite spot is a stand up guy, I have had many dealings with him and a few defective units purchased. They stand behind the products and replace any items delivered with defects or help you get parts if you want to fix your own. I buy several items a month from them.

I have seen a few modelers use the Soundtraxx Micro-Tsunami 827010 TSU-750 RGS Galloping Goose but all of them had issues with the decoder over heating. The issue was solved by adding a brass heat sink to the decoder on top and opening the roof of the rail bus and adding a vent for air escape.

Scotty,
The ON30 group on that site are some of the best out there and many are published. They are a really nice bunch of guys and are willing to help answer a lot of questions. I have seen many modelers join and there skill level increases greatly within a few short months due to the help they get.
I would encourage anyone to give it a try.

I have not seen this issue on any of the six I have. Does it cause an operational issue!

Ditto,
Thanks to all at Bachmann; I now have all of my Bachmann locomotives running again. Oh how those geared Shays and Climaxes running down the track make me smile. Grin

If you read far enough you will see I had the same issue with the replacement clips. I had to file a little off the bottom of the clips.

I was having the same issue and orderred new clips. The wheel still spun freely  Huh? then... the light bulb in my brain turned on. The gear on the wheel may not be hitting the gear on the drive line because the wheel is to far into the center of the axel. I gave the wheel a little push out towards the gear while holding the other wheel and...... It fixed that wheel. Grin
Give it a try what do you have to loose?
Good Luck.
Larry

Update, they shay has been running and running on the test track 45 minutes so far.
