I need some help here folks.

I know, I know, I shouldn' t be talking about IHC here, but here goes.  My one loco, that's not Bachmann, has a problem turning left.  It will turn right (clockwise) all day long.  As soon as it hits a left hand curve, it wants to stall, until it gets to the next straight piece of track.  Any suggestions.

Check the side rods on the drivers and the linkage to see if they bind when
drivers are pushed to the outside of the curve.

Thanks Bob,

I'll give that a try.

I'll try some blind long distance trouble shooting.
My suspicion is that it is an electrical pickup problem.
Sideways movement of the drivers is necessary to negotiate curves.
This movement could cause loss of contact only on left turns as the front and rear drivers are forced to the right and the center drivers are forced to the left. Opposite to a right turn where there is no problem.
When stalled in a left turn try to wiggle the boiler over the drivers.
If pickup is momentarily restored my hunch is confirmed
good luck.

Nelson,

I think that you have hit on the problem.  With the loco upside down, I can easily move three sets of drivers from side to side.  But, one set seems to not want to move as easily.  I think this is the major problem.  I suppose it's time for a wee bit of lubrication.  Thanks for the help.
