I am trying toupgrade from EZ command , I am stuck between getting the Bachmann dynamis or the Digitraxx zephyr, they are both in the price range that I can afford right now. Any info that can help will be appreciated.

I have been considering these options too to upgrade from DCC. Here's two places you should start looking at:

http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/products.php?act=viewProd&productId=1960

http://digitrax.com/prd_zep_basic_set.php

Those are links to the Bachmann Dynamis system and the Digitrax Zephyr. A few points that would help to identify which one might be better for you would be:

  • What your layout size is
  • How many locomotives you'll be running
  • How many operators/throttles would you like to have?
  • Do you need a system that can grow with you as you expand your layout or build a new one, or one that will always be used for your current one?

You can find some good information on those pages about both controls. Make lists of what you'd want to see out of each, and start from there.

What are friends or the local club or people in your local area using?  Learning to use a more advanced DCC systems is rather like learning to use a computer - it really helps if you have a guru that you can call on when you need help.  Payback comes when others start using you as their guru.  This system works particularly well if you both speak the same language but can flop if one of you speaks MAC and the other speaks PC.
