Just unpacked my 2-8-0 DCC equiped and put it on the test track. As I do not have a DCC decoder I just used a power pack. I also can't determine where to plug in the two wires coming from the tender. The tender light lit up and the engin did nothing. Any advice for a novice model railroader?

The leaflet that came with the loco explains where to put the wires.
Look under the loco and you'll find the firebox bottom comes off ( loosen the 2 screws to make life easier) Underthat, you'll find the 2 sockets.
While you're at it just ease the cable entry of the firebox cover  a little to prevent strain on the wires.

I have been considering the ON30  2-8-0, after reading your site have decided to order one. It appears you are very happy with it. (I haven't read any negative comments about the model)

Since several roalroads ran the Colorado narrow gauge, I have decided to get the red and white unlettered, then make some small clip on name and number boards to fit the need at the time.

Thanks for sharing the site. I bookmarked it for later study.
