I see Micro-Mark is now advertising the Pulpwood Cars.

I went to http://www.micromark.com and entered PULPWOOD in the keyword search field.

Dear All,
The pulpwood cars will arrive early in the summer.
Someday, maybe, I'll get to be the first to announce something...
; )
Have fun!

There doesn't seem to be the usual amount of chit-chat on this forum about these models.

What's the reason?

It's summer and people are doing other things?
Not that much interest in the product?
Price too high?
Everybody waiting to see them in person before commenting further?
Something else?

Probably because the Flat car on its own is half the cost  - several firms make side slats as per the bachmann versions for a lot less and a real wood load will always look better than a cast resin version

For the price, you better really want one!

dave rough cost
bachmann flat $15-$17
slats kit $10-95 plus time to make paint etc
load ? free plus time
bachmann pulpwood car $30
not a big saving $3-$5
the cost for your time to do it yourself is what you think its worth
i have one of the bachmann and think it looks good didnt like the UK price tho. the next ones will come from the states
ps who are the several firms who make the slat kits, i only found one

I am sure that Bachmann has a prototype photo that they based their model upon but I looks to be at least 4 boards too high from the pictures I have seen, i.e. it would top heavy. And I agree with David (UK), nothing  can replace real wood car parts and logs. Since none of the offered 'rail/road' names work for me, I would be better off starting with one of those Xmas flats or low-side gondolas, strip it, make my own deck and slat sides, fill it with real 'logs', and use my own decals.
