16mm x 35mm oval in a styrene baffle in my 70 ton. The back of the baffle has styrene so the baffle is completely sealed.

No doubt you will wonder. I removed the upper weight, plastic tray and poured my own weights to replace the upper weight.

Use front and rear LED's. My own styrene base. Removed all the caps from the motor.

The decoder is a LokSound  Micro v3.5 no longer sold. The v4.0 MIcro is now sold.
A Micro Tsunami 750 would work also as there is a suitable sound if you are not a rivet counter. Litchfield sells a 16mm x 35mm speaker.
I used a sanding block with 150 grit paper glued to it to make the plastic speaker frame narrow enough to fit into the shell. Not much sanding required.
I used the same install minus weights for two Spectrum GE 44 tonners.

OK, I think this will be needed. I stripped the loco down to the motor and four pickup leads.

Make sure you insulate all unused wires before applying any power. I have no idea of your DCC experience.

Richg, thank you, my dcc is very limited, but my model railroading is over 60 years this sept..i've installed four decoders, and they work super [so far] this 70 toner i've dressed up to represent the 500 rutland, one of my favoret engines. this will be my first sound attempt, do not know metric, reason for my asking the size of speaker.thank you again Grz.

Quite often stuff is measure in Metric today. Below is a converter.

Litchfield link. They have a speaker. as do other online companies.

I have an article on a Rutland HO 70 tonner conversion. I will see if I can find it when I get home. Out of RMC or MRR magazines.

Glad to help. I am curious and always looking for info. Not bad for nearly 71. Macular degeneration in left eye has slowed me down and pretty much stopped doing any more projects like this.
Ok, where are my Depends?

There is a little more info on the GE 70 ton here if you search the Bachmann forums.

Also, the below might help if you have the back issues.

I have the 2008 issue which also includes DCC install by the author.
