New to bashing locos.

Am in the process of back dating my 4-4-0.  I've already taken the engine apart and have mocked up the fluted steam and sand domes as well a diamond stack and funnel stack (need to see which stack looks best).  I bought a fancy headlamp bracket to extend the lamp over the front beam after I shorten the smoke box.

I need to remove the head lamp / bracket from the smoke box - are there any tips or tricks to removing the stock lamp.

Thank you.

I don't have a solution for you,but I am also planning to backdate one. I need to know if anyone doing period modeling has a cut off switch for the headlight, because back in the day headlights were only lit after dark.

Meant to add that on the backdating of my moguls I used MV lens that appear a little amber in color and they look very nice with daytime running.  I just disconected the wires and don't run after dark. Gives a more realistic appearence.

Harold might have some ideas. He shows up here once in a while. Click on the site map also.
