Recently, I purchased an HO model of the 1832 Dewitt Clinton.
The Ebay seller stated, in the auction, that the motor doesn't run.
I took it to the local model railroad club where they have their HO layout and a test track.
I hoped they might be able to take a look at it.
The man I spoke to was cautious not to try working with it as he was unfamiliar with it.
Is there somewhere I can find a guide to servicing it?
When it was put on the test track, there was no sound (hum,/buzz, etc.,..) coming from it.
does anyone out there have any experience in working on this model?

If it doesn't run and you don't have the expertise to fix it then your only recourse is to buy a new locomotive. Generally it is not advisable to buy something you know doesn't work if you yourself are not confident you know how to fix it. You can't rely on a third party because they may not know how to fix it or the repair costs may exceed the amount you paid for it.

The exploded diagram is here: http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/dwg/dwgs/HO_DeWITT_SET_ENGINE.pdf

It doesn't look too complicated to take apart. I would check for a broken wire or, more likely, worn out motor brushes.

If at first you don't succeed, throw it in the spare parts box.

Or give the service dept. a call and send it to them if all else fails.

As Len stated it does not look complicated to pull apart and service the little guy.
