I was using Decoder Pro to setup several Bachmann loco motives to try to speed match them. I have read that CV05 and CV06 are not available on the decoders used in these locomotives. Also, it appears that speed table CVs 67 through 94 are not available as Decoder Pro failed to read any data from these CVs. Is that assumption correct? If these CVs are not available how can 2 or 3 locomotives be speed matched?

Your assumptions are fact.

Q: If these CVs are not available how can 2 or 3 locomotives be speed matched?

A:

  • Consist only locomotives that run close enough to be connected.
  • Replace decoder with one that supports speed matching.
  • Add resisters in motor circuit to reduce speed to that of the slowest locomotive.
  • Unpower all but lead locomotive.

Thanks for confirming what I suspected. I guess it is time for an upgrade to new decoders. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For Bachmann HO diesel locomotive, consider NCE BACH-DSL mobile decoder version 3.6. (soldering required).
