So I've had a NYC Niagara for a while, but I repainted it kinda half-butt attempt.

So here it was after its initial repaint

Really Ugly don'tcha think?

So I started repairing this tender

So I came up with the Niagara and the vanderbuilt tender I was repairing, some other modifications and some paint and......

There is lettering on the tender, sunglare from the window makes it hard to see,

Changes I did
Engine Work:
Added Classification Lights (To be replaced, just trying to justify S&H)
New Headlight
Changed to LED
Removed smoke unit
Shaved off NYC Number Plate detail on front of smokebox
New Headlight Location
New Bell
Working front coupler
Window Glazing
B&O Capital dome on Sheild.
Paintwork

Sooooo How did i do?

I think it looks good.  I don't like the NYC smoke box door, but that is just me. Two little things that I think would help would be to add a strip to the walkway where the smoke deflectors were, and to the deck where your steps come down, so the sides of the steps would be the same. Just a couple little things to think about.  We all know that B&O didn't have 4-8-4s, but I like the what ifs.  What if the PRR had 4-8-4s instead of the T1s, or if Santa Fe 2-8-4s would of had 69 inch drivers instead of 63.

Interestingly, there are some people who think we had an example of what a B&O 4-8-4 might look like--Western Maryland's Potomacs, built by Baldwin in 1947, and the last new 4-8-4 design for an American railroad.

They could be right--high mounted headlight, off center bell, and fore and aft sand domes, like a "Big Six" 2-10-2!!

But then you look at the T-3 4-8-2s the B&O did have--and then there were the second hand Boston & Maine 4-8-2s. . .who knows, really?

The walkway gap i wanted to fill in but didnt have the right styrene strips. The other part i missed.

And i have a few what if engines.

Someone that knows more than me please verify.  Isn't the Bachmann NYC 4-8-4 actually their Santa Fe 4-8-4 with a different smokebox door and tender?

During WWII a lot of engines got shuffled to different roads to accommodate regional traffic overloads,  notably n&w 2-8-8-2's to the ATSF.  But, in Emily 's world, couldn't the b&o have acquired a Santa Fe 4-8-4?

I have imaginary engine classes also.  MP 2-8-0 engine numbering stopped at 173.  The Bachmann 2-8-0, while much heavier than any 2-8-0 that MP ever had  , is actually close to MP practice detail wise.  So I have 3 of those 2-8-0s numbered in the imaginary 180 class, and getting ready to add 2 more.  The Bachmann 2-10-0 likewise is not entirely like the 8 the MP had, so I numbered 2 of mine as 940 and 949, just outside the MP numbering sequence.  I'm totally happy with them the way they are,  they are in way freight service on my MP sub.
