is it that little tank on the conrail fuel tank?

ben_not_benny

It looks like a NS loco in CR-Q colors.

I found more information:

NS #2580 is a EMD SD70 currently in CR-Q colors, originally CR-Q #2580.

Guilford Guy

One of the few NS SD70 standard cabs which still retains CRQ paint.

o so is it the paint scheme is wrong

scottychaos

still wrong!  ;D

yes, it is currently a NS loco still in CR paint,
8 years after Conrail died.
Locos still in CR paint are getting rarer everyday, but still nothing unusual.

I will give you a hint:
the details of this loco are identical to its other 23 siblings from that particular SD70 order..
but it is still unique, there is something "one of a kind" about it.

Did the other 23 have dynamic braking?

yep..as far as I know, all 24 units of that order are identical.

hint - as I have said, all 24 units are identical!  ;)
therefore..what makes this unit unique must be....
not in its physical details!

What was the railroad and fleet number of the last locomotive that came from the factory painted for ConRail?

(Never employed by EMD at any time)

Dr EMD

CR 2580 was the last locomotive that ConRail got received from anybody, painted for CR, which was built to NS specs.

It could be the last NS locomotive with the standard short hood.

Conrail rostered an amazing 6,000 plus units over its lifetime..(not all at the same time! ;)

SD70 2580 was the very last Conrail locomotive.

That would explain why it's missing the two red lights on the nose that are normally found on the Conrail locos. Hard to believe that it's been eight years.  ???
