I have a couple of the older GS-4's. While they run fine on level ground, the are unable to go up a 2% grade. Anyone have any ideas to solve the traction problem?

  • reduce the steepness of the grade.
  • increase the wieght inside the locomotive, but this may lead to failure of the drive axles.
  • if failure occurs, consider the Bowser repower kit.
  • make the tender into a booster using model diesel locomotive components.

Or get that powered truck by (I think) Caboose Hobbies, and stick it in a passenger car behind the engine.
