For those that had followed my problem whereas a new 2-8-0 that I bought was DOA, well it is now alive.

Bachmann sent me a new main drive wheelset and gear case under warranty.  Swapping the drive axle was not bad at all. You don't have to remove the drive rods, you just have to take care to not bend them.

This is one gutsy little loco. It pulls hard even with a heavy train behind it (D&RGW passenger/freight combo cnsisting of LGB passenger cars and AMS/Accucraft freight/caboose) and can almost keep pace with my LGB Alco dual-motor diesel.

I really like the Connie.   Now I just need a decal set to dress her out with the D&RGW roadname.

Dan,
That's great! I'm glad you were able to get it fixed. If you have trouble getting the proper decals I would suggest checking out Stan Cedarleaf's website:

I also have to agree with that,
Stan's decals are top of the line. He has made several sets for me in the past, and I'm currently getting ready for him to make decals for the logging line.
You can't go wrong with Stan!

Glad that it survived surgery.  ;D
