I have four 85  foot amtrak passenger cars with the old horn hook couplers, I  would like to convert them to the newer types. I also have some truck mounted freight cars that I would like to convert as well. Thanks for any assistance.

Get Kadee couplers.  Number 5s should work for all of your cars.

Best check the Kaydee site for their conversion info.

The information on the site is for a number of Bachmann passenger cars.
re: 85' Bud Coach - Amtrack - use #38 Coupler conversions

OTher Bachmann passenger cars use the following:

85' cars is to use #37 coupler conversion kits

Spectrum Heavyweight cars to use #27 conversion kits

1998 Passenger cars to use #5 or #58

For the majority of rolling stock with Talgo trucksuse the #5 or # 39 couplers.

Before you purchase the Bachman couplers check out the McHenrys . You may find them a little easier to install .
