I have a frontiersman set and my engine pluges into the coal tender, why?

Dear X,
The motor is in the tender, and the connection is the drive shaft.

Welcome to the world of tender mounted motors. I've had a couple of those little 4-4-0's over the years and they ran pretty good. It's easy to see that there's not room in the loco for a motor, hence it's location in the tender. Motor power is sent to the loco via a drive shaft which must be periodically inspected for wear and replaced in the event of wear. The power pickups on the tender wheels are problematic at best and can be a chore to clean.

THB-DAVE

I am confused: does not the Frontiersman set come with Baldwin 2-8-0 Consoladation which is not tender drive. I have 2 Bachmann Consols and they are definitly not tender drive.

If this is the engine THB DAVE has  the tender needs to be hooked onto the engine for electric pick-up.
