This would be a neat loco in On30, even though none of these critters made onto this side of the pond.  The prototype is 24" gauge.

Hey, Bob-
Pretty cool!

Yeah, that one would be all but impossible for me to resist, but that's no thermometer, since I think I must already have at least one example of every style of loco Bachmann has released thus far in On30. If I were as persistent as Dusten, this is the loco that I would "pester-the-hell-out-of-anyone-who-would-listen" about. But right now I need to save up for when the 4-6-0's "hit the fans"!!!

I can only hope that maybe LEE Riley will take notice of this thread...

Hello alll

Here is a photo of an NGG 16 class produced by Backwoods Minitures and 2 photos of its older running mate an NGG11 both beautiful locos and they would be great additions to the Bachmann range , but who knows what is in store for us, I would like a few as they are true Big Narrow guage power

Ya, I have to say, I would probably get one of these, even though it does not fit into my radroad scheme.

If your parents never had children, chances are you won't either.

There was a real 30 inch Garrett that has been restored to use on the Puffing Billy railway.  While the NG-16 are my personal favorite, this locomotive would be a must buy for me as well.

By the way, there is a NG-16 in the United States.  It is owned by a private individual and is not open for the public to see.

So, there is your excuse to own one of these beauties on a North American railroad!

Hello Everyone

Yes the Victorian Railways here had built 2 30inch gauge garretts G41 - 42 of which G42 has been restored and is running again almost every day here in Melbourne. They also do have a SAR NGG-16 which they hope to restore and regauge to 30inch, But our G class is much bigger and bulkier .I have a freind who had on hand built in 1/4 inch scale G class made and it is 12inches long and big but is a little smaller than his MMI K-27.But a model of a garrett would be welcome

Frisco

Sorry but this is one of the few locomotives that I would NOT buy from Bachmann.

no surprise there then

No,

But a lot of On30 modelers in other parts of the world might, as well as American On30 modelers.

How many European, Australian, South American, etc. modelers would LOVE to have one of these?

Hamish K

As I live in Australia with a freelanced Australian themed ON30 layout, I would find any Garratt hard to resist. As a lover of small locos my preference would be for a smaller prototype, such as the original Garratt (K1), which ran in Tasmania, Australia and is now also preserved in Wales (it should be back in Tasmania!). See http://whr.bangor.ac.uk/k1.htm

However if a South African NG16 class, or a Victorian Railways G class, or indeed any other, Garratt was produced by Bachmann in ON30 I would find some way of accommodating it on my layout. I would not be able to leave it in the shop!

I would definitely find room on my layout for a model of the G class Garrett. I live in Aust, but model US Pacific NW logging. I am SURE my prototype used a Garrett.  ;)
