Santa Fe 2-10-4 DCC stopping when tender rolls over switch

Hi all,

I just picked up one of the new DCC Santa Fe 2-10-4 steam locos at the WGH show here in Cleveland.  Just set up a temp layout using 22" radius curves and some EZ track switches (turnouts, not #5 or #6) for a siding to store another train that can handle 18" curves.  When the tender of the SF 2-10-4 rolls over the switches, it stops.   Sometimes if the speed is just right it rolls right on over and doesn't miss a beat.  I'm using EZ-Command as the DCC controller.  I think that the tender is causing a quick short in the system and the controller resets.  Anyone else have this problem or know of way to remedy it?

Thanks,
ShiveringTim

PS - I'm not trying to take the turnout of the switches, just taking it straight with the 2-10-4.

If it is a short you should see some disturbance on the controller, even a flicker. I only know of that happening with relatively short wheelbases stalling over #6 and 8 switches. Check the power throughout the switch there could be a dead rail in it.

Could it be that the tender is only picking up current by one truck?
