Ge E60 cp repair?

I'm wondering if anyone has experience repairing an n-scale e60 cp? It seems as thought a gear is stripped. It moves fine in one direction. When going the other, however, it has very little pulling power and makes a plastic grinding noise, as thought gears are slipping. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the problem. Or suggestions parts that will work with the e60 chassis. I think Dash 8-40 parts look similar but I new to this so I'm not sure.

If all else fails send it in to the Bachmann service dept in Philadelphia for replacement.
