Is it possible to buy Sound decoders seperately for certain engines with the 8 prong plug? I'm buying some DCC installed(no sound) locomotives however I'd like to add sound to them, is this possible?

thanks in advance

You certainly can add sound to a loco that already has DCC installed.  There are several manufacturers to pick from.  You could start your search with digitrax.com and, on the home page, select Sound Decoders from the Products menu on the left.  Have fun hunting.  Hope this helps.

I think your question is can I add an 8-pin plug sound only decoder to a DCC locomotive. The answer to this is if the DCC decoder that is all ready in the loco is using the 8-pin socket then, you won't be able to, also I haven't seen any sound only decoders with an 8-pin plug. But if you're good with a soldering iron and electrical wiring then you should have no trouble.
