Recently purchased a Bachmann E-Z command DCC system, and a Bachmann CSX® #4409  engine.

The engine and DCC functions work fine when using the default engine ID #3.

However, i'd like to reprogram this engine to be engine ID #1.   Unfortunately, when I follow the instructions provided, the engine doesn't seem to take the programming.

I select engine 3, run the engine a few seconds, stop it, simultaneously hold down the power and #3 button, at which point the stop LED starts flashing.

At that point, i select ID #1, and nothing seems to happen.

the engine does not move a little as described in the instructions to indicate is has taken the program.

Any insight greatly appreciated.

When holding down the buttons, think "ctrl, alt, del". It sounds like you may not be releasing the buttons correctly.

The printed directions that come with the EZ-Command are not correct. Try this:

Scroll down to right under the 2nd picture where it says "Assigning a locomotive to a new address". Those directions should be correct. Or you can look at this

mistake on the engine model number.  It is a 61103 GP38-2 Diesel loco.

Thanks

The model number shouldn't matter, just the fact that it is DCC with a decoder

Since there is no power button as near as I can tell, I assume you mean the "STOP" button.  Try programming the decoder to a different address....like 4 instead of 1.  If that works, it's possible that there is a problem with button number 1.  Good luck.

Cody,
Thanks for the speedy response.

That was the problem.  I think i was holding the #3 and the stop button at the same time instead of using the updated instructions (holding #3 and pressing and releasing the stop button).

Once I followed the updated instructions everything worked fine.
