What are the dimensions of the new Bachmann turntable? Also the Tidmouth Round house and Turntable. Does anyone know? Thanks!

There is a brief summary of the Bachmann Turntable in the new Feb. issue of Model Railroader. The bridge is 10", the unit has a plug for a 8 pin DCC decoder. The unit as a gear drive and a spring loaded directional switch, MSRP is $140.00. Apparently it is easily adaptable to all HO track.

Ths will certainly be of interest to those with small locomotives or are tired of the old Atlas 9" turntable. Price certainly seems reasonable comparted to what Walthers charges for their turntables.

Yeah, but which one is the better looking and smoother operating?

A lower price isn't everything.

Any photos of the Bachmann 'table?

Having done a Google for the Bachmann turntable, I can see why they're only asking US$140.00 for it.

I would have posted a photo here but I didn't want to fall afoul of copyright infringement.

Compared to the Walthers turntable, which looks very realistic, the Bachmann is very toy like and looks just like a powered version of the Thomas Tidmouth turntable.

Looking at the picture on the 'products' page, it would appear the track spacing is 20 degrees. Does anyone make a roundhouse, aside from the one with the Tidmouth Sheds turntable, that will line up to that?

Most of the Walthers/Faller/Vollmer roundhouses are set for 10 degrees, and the Atlas is 15 degrees. Will 'Tidmouth Sheds' be available seperately as a genereic roundhouse, or do we have a new excuse to start scratch building??

If at first you don't succeed, throw it in the spare parts box.
