I bought a new DCC equipped Spectrum 2-8-0 three months ago. More recently, I bought a new DCC Spectrum 4-6-0 with sound.   It's great, and the speed/acceleration/momentum control is so much better on the 4-6-0!  Can I bring the 2-8-0 up to a similar standard of control plus sound?  Can I buy a new DCC/Sound decoder and replace the factory-installed decoder in my loco?  If so what and where should I buy, and if not should I just add a sound-only decoder?   I'm new to DCC, so advice would be much appreciated!

You cannot buy the Tsunami that is in the factory equipped sound locos.
Go look at the below link. Store the link in Favorites. You will need it in the future.
Take time later to look through all the site.

You will have to solder and 8 pin connector to the decoder wires.
If you do not know how to solder, look below.
You can also cut back the shrink on the decoder, remove the 9 pin connector.
Buy a 9 pin to 8 pin adapter to plug the decoder into the Bachmann PC board.
Research this first so you can buy everything you need the first time you order.
This is all explained in the below link. Click on Curriculum and then SoundTraxx.

The are a couple cheaper decoders with less features available. Others will comment.

I buy from the below site. Free shipping over $75.00 the last time I ordered.
