Hi  everbody, I am a new member living in Germany, I have a HO layout of 15 ft by 8 ft 50 ins. I have 17 US diesel Locos and 4 steam Locos plus many passenger and freight cars. The steam are Bachmann Spectrum and the diesels are a mixture of Bachmann and Athearn. I am in the process of rebuilding my layout as may wife kicked me out of the guest room  ( good thing it was to small anyway). at the moment I am converting 5 German steam from analog to digital ( my layout is digital so I hope I can run them all on it) On 3 of the locos the decoder switches off when the motor is under load as the power it needs ist too hight so I will have to use a 3.0amp decoder. These are old East German locos from apprx. 1960, never been run!
can anyone help me with the part no. of the male and female connectors which are between the coal tender and the locoof the USRA light 2-10-2?  The motor is build into the tender, so then it might be possible to use a larger decoder biult into a 50ft box car connected behind the oroginal tender. If anyone has more suggestions or ideas, all are very much appreciated.

Bryan,
Welkommen!
The connectors are fairly standard computer parts.  Try a decent computer parts store.

Welcome

Here are a couple suggestions.

I have used Hirose Electric type DF3, 2mm pitch connector parts from DigiKey for
that purpose with good results on HO scale locos. These are rather small and
rated at 3 amps. With care, the socket pins can be crimped with a small needle
nose pliers. I wrap and solder tender side wires to PCB pins on a single row
header, glue it to the tender and paint black. The plug is polarized. I use a
7 pin header & socket (2 for power, 2 for motor, 2 for headlight, 1 for chuff
sync). wire them all the same for interchangability.

You can also find 1.25mm and 1mm pitch connectors in the DigiKey capalog.
www.digikey.com. the problem is that they can be too small to work with without
having a PCB or an expensive crimping tool.

Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/ and search for dcc. You will see how many dcc groups exist.
