Can I still get sound out of a sound enabled DCC engine using a Tech II 2400?

I'm setting up a set for my son which will go around his room on a platform just below the celing.  I want to have an engine that will make sound which I believe needs to be a DCC equipped engine.  Will I still get sound if I'm using a Tech II 2400 transformer?

Yes you can if the loco comes with on board sound. I am thinking you want only Bachmann products.
What scale do you want? HO, On30, G scale?

Yes you can, that's what I'm doing too.  The locomotive will need DCC and sound on-board.  I have several B-Man locos, all run fine on the MRC pack.  You can operate the bell & whistle by flipping the direction switch back and forth while in motion.  The loco will keep moving and only reverse direction when at full stop.  However, I use a Quantum Engineer accessory that handles the sound functions (by using relays to switch the polarity for you.)  These are available from several well known makers.
Make sure the momentum switch on the MRC pack is in the off position, DCC doesn't like it.

Have fun.....
