can you run a dcc train without a dcc track ???

jward

yes, a dcc locomotive will run on dc track as long as somebody hasn't disabled the dc conversion feature. dc conversion is turned on at factory defaukt settings.   that said, a decoder equipped locomotive will not start moving until about half throttle because of the circuitry of the decoder.

I would assume (as did Jeff) that you are talking about running a DCC-equipped locomotive with a DC controller? As Jeff mentioned, you have to have a dual-mode decoder installed and the digital + analog CV (CV29) must be enabled...Bachmann products (to the best of my knowledge) are all equipped with dual-mode decoders.

If you were referring to track...there is no difference between track for DC or track for DCC (they are the same...with the possible exception of DCC friendly turnouts). Or: the track doesn't care whether it is getting a digital (DCC) feed - or analog (DC) feed. Obviously the wiring is quite different between the two control systems.
